There is nothing quite as serene as walking into the studio and inhaling whatever form of aroma therapy Nanci is trying out on that particular day. An overwhelming sense of relief washes over you as you walk into her class and you can feel all of your stress immediately melt off your shoulders with the pressing heat. Nanci is a kind and nurturing soul with the uncanny ability to understand what a person needs when one walks into the studio, whether it be a lengthy chat about life or just a quiet hello with a warm smile, without it having to be explicitly stated. I originally started going to the 7:15 class because it was the only one that fit my schedule. I very quickly became a regular at Nanci's evening classes because I loved the atmosphere she created. When I moved to Winchester six months ago, I thought my time with Nanci was over and I started looking for a studio closer to my new home. Nobody compared. I tried a handful of different classes but not one filled me with the same calming joy as Nanci, so I continue to make the thirty minute trek, three times a week just for her. When I had to undergo knee surgery over the summer, Nanci was more than willing to let me simply meditate in the back because she knew it was what I needed. When I was in recovery and still couldn't quite move my leg as much as I would have liked, her gentle words of reassurance and encouragement kept me motivated. Throughout that time she would check in with me during every class to make sure I wasn't pushing myself too hard. Yoga is so much more than just a form of physical exercise for me. It is quite literally a moving meditation, as Nanci so often puts it, and practicing with her for the past year has helped me grow spiritually and emotionally. I can feel the impact she has made on me in every decision that I make. I am more confident and stable now than I have ever been before and it's all thanks to Nanci. She is beyond understanding and compassionate and makes sure everyone in the room feels comfortable, truly creating a judgement-free zone. Nanci has made a large and lasting impact on my life and she doesn't even know it. ~M. M.M. M.

was introduced to PYE by a friend who had been going for some time. I had been to a few yoga classes in the past, and was curious, but I wasn't sure I liked the idea of 'hot' yoga. I did not think I wanted to be too hot while I was 'working out'. While the first couple of classes I did feel a bit dizzy, and I frequently found myself taking a break in child's pose, I soon realized that these classes were more than just a 'work out'. That was about four years ago, and I now look forward to my oasis in the week when I am at PYE. In the winter the room is so welcoming, and to lay on the mat for a while before class begins, letting the stress of the day start to melt away, is wonderful. The classes are structured for flow, and yogis are able to follow the lead of the instructors to their comfort level - emphasis is always placed on doing what is comfortable for the body but also there is encouragement to push and become improved over time. Everyone is welcome in my experience, those in their first ever yoga class, those returning to yoga after a long break and those who have been doing yoga for decades and can do some incredible things - men and women, all ages and body types. Everyone making their own progress on their mat in a room full of mats - it's such good energy. It's so inspiring to see what time and patience can deliver. I was afraid to squat too low when I started, concerned it would damage my knees, but now, squat pose is one of my favorites. My joints were sore and I have experienced relief from regular yoga practice. I like the format of the classes, the pace of the instructors (and their personalities) and most of all I have been thrilled to find somewhere I can practice with guidance and no judgement. I have grown stronger in my body and I find it so relaxing afterwards which carries through my evening and into the next day.
